David Henderson

David Henderson

David Henderson, 93, of Valencia passed away Monday.

Born on Dec. 28, 1919, in Motherwell, Scotland, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Harris) Henderson.

David, a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, earned an undergraduate degree in business and a masters of science degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh.

He went on to teach business at Midland High School in Beaver County, was a professor of business at University of Pittsburgh, and was head of the business department for Butler County Community College, where he was a founding faculty member.

David was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, serving as a deacon and elder. He also served on the Mars School Board.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II.

He was the beloved husband for 20 years of Caroljo (Forsythe) Henderson of Valencia; loving father of David (Nancy) Henderson of Naples, Fla., Bruce (Judy) Henderson of Cullowhee, N.C., Susan (Leo) Parisi of Butler and Wendy (Craig) Cullen of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; brother of Ian (Rita) Henderson of Brockport, N.Y., and brother-in-law of Ellen Henderson. He also is survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the late Janet (Getty) Henderson; one daughter, the late Ruth Henderson; and one brother, the late Henry Henderson, U.S. Commander, U.S. Navy, Retired.

HENDERSON — The family of David Henderson, who passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 at Heckert Road, Bakerstown.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hosanna Industries, 109 Rinard Lane, Rochester, PA 15074 or to the Lighthouse Foundation, P.O.
