Catherine Desmond

Catherine G. Desmond, 82, of Butler died Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, following an accidental fall.

She was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Hazel M. (Suchonic) Desmond.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

She worked as an outside sales representative for the Gillette Co. Pittsburgh office. She traveled the Butler County and Pittsburgh areas for 10 years, until her retirement in 1979.

She was a member of the Butler County Blind Association and chairperson for the Butler Blind Support Group.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Jane Crowe of Butler; one brother, James J. (Donna) Desmond of Butler; three nephews, Dana (Linda) Desmond of Butler, Douglas Desmond of Kennerdell, Pa., and Edward (Tammy) Desmond of Butler; and two nieces Marina (Bolek) Hoszwa of Butler and Amy (Scott) Schultz of Evans City.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Desmond.

DESMOND — Friends of Catherine G. Desmond, who died Saturday, June 1, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Butler.St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
