H. Ross McConnell
H. Ross McConnell, 70, of Mars passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
Born on April 9, 1943, in Aliquippa, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry and Alberta Sayers McConnell.
He was a graduate of Hopewell High School.
He served our country in the U.S. Army.
Ross was an operations manager for U.S. Air in Pittsburgh. After retiring from U.S. Air, Ross found his most fulfilling career as a school bus driver for A.J. Myers and Sons for the Mars School District, where he often referred to the children as his “precious cargo.”
Recently he served on the Mars School Board.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Mars and also was a member and past master of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM.
He was the devoted husband of 48 years to Evelyn Elaine Kiefer McConnell, who he married on Oct. 1, 1965; loving father of Beth Milbert and her husband, William Sr., of Butler and Marsha Burton and her husband, James, of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandfather of William Milbert Jr., Zachary Milbert, Malory Burton and Kiefer Burton; great-grandfather of Brayden Milbert; brother-in-law of Harvey Kiefer and his wife, Kathy of West Sunbury and G.F. “Corky” McDonald of Mars; and two four-legged children, Mandy and Holly McConnell.
McConnell — Friends of H. Ross McConnell, who passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter deVries officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Warrendale, Pa.A luncheon will follow the committal service at the John E.
