Andrew 'Drew' Nye
Andrew “Drew” A. Nye, 64, of Zelienople passed away Monday while under the care of the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born June 18, 1948, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Andrew A. and Gloria Betty (Justine) Nye.
Drew was a proud Navy veteran, who served during the Vietnam War, where he worked as an engineer mechanic LST.
He was an active member and past commander for the American Legion Post 474 in Zelienople. He also served as a Patriot Guard and was a member of the American Legion Riders.
Drew retired in 2003 as an operating engineer from Local 66.
Upon his retirement, he had the pleasure of traveling the country and was able to see all 50 states. In his free time, he enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, spending time with his buddies, participating in the pool league, watching NASCAR and being with his dogs that never left his side.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Judy (Huffman) Nye of Zelienople; his son, Andrew A. “Patrick” Nye and his wife, Maryann, of New Castle; his sister, Alison West of Zelienople; his four stepchildren, his three grandchildren, and many aunts and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson.
