Frederick Farley

Frederick Dean Farley, 71, of Butler passed away Thursday at UPMC Montefiore Hospital.

He was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Marietta, Ohio, the son of the late Russell P. and Manota Belle (Milligan) Farley.

Dean Farley (RMSC Senior Chief) was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he retired in Brunswick, Maine, after a long, dedicated career. Dean served two tours in Vietnam and participated in the Bay of Pigs Operation. He was defined by the military code of honor, tradition, valor and his love for helping others. In addition, he served as an ambassador for veterans around Pennsylvania, Ohio and Minnesota in recent years. Dean was an entrepreneur in the business world, upon his retirement from the U.S. Navy, with a lucrative business he ran for many years in the field of government contracts out of Minnesota.

Surviving Senior Chief Farley are his wife, Valerie (Young) Farley from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, who he married Oct. 29, 1964, they were married 49 beautiful years; daughter, Tara Farley Mueller of Butler; two sons, Michael D. Farley and Timothy James Farley, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; and seven grandchildren, Conor, Grant, Quinn, Alexander, Tegan, Braden and Oliver.

Senior Chief Farley passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, Valerie and children, Michael, Timothy, and Tara. He is joining family and friends of past in heaven on this glorious day.

FARLEY — Friends of Frederick Dean Farley, who died Thursday, May 23, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
