Sliders DH fuels win at Lorain
Slippery Rock designated hitter Ryne Clark went 3-for-5 and scored a run to lead the Sliders to a 7-5 win over host Lorain County in Prospect League baseball play on Sunday.
Joel Klock added two hits, a run scored and three RBI and Connor McCallum two hits and two runs scored for the Sliders (10-14).
Tyler Wilson started the game on the mound, but lasted just two innings. Kyle Halbohn, the first of three relievers, earned the win after giving up just one earned run on four hits in five innings of work.
Alex Watson and Kevin Becker-Menditto each pitched one inning, with the latter picking up the save.
In Slippery Rock’s 9-4 loss to Lorain County on Saturday, the Ironmen exploded for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jake Eikleberry and Travis Clark were on the mound for the meltdown, with Eikleberry shouldering the loss with two runs (one earned) allowed on five hits in 3 1/3 innings.
The Sliders tallied just seven hits, with Matt Calhoun collecting two of them.
