Earl Woodward

Earl R. “Red” Woodward Jr., 82, of Mars died Saturday morning in the comfort of his home.

Born on July 9, 1930, in Greensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl R. and Margaret C. Wakefield Woodward Sr.

He was a graduate of Grove City College with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Earl was the founder of Woodward, Inc. in 1962 in Mars.

He had been a member of Dutilh United Methodist Church, Mars Campus, and a social member of the Mars VFW Post 7505. A Mason, he was a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F. & A.M.

Surviving are his wife, Marian A. “Mickie” Woodward, who he married on Sept. 11, 1954; a daughter, Gayle Ferree and her husband, Edward, of Valencia; two sons, Earl “Bink” Woodward III, and his wife, Jackie, and Clayton Woodward and his wife, Susan, both of Mars; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Buckbee in Michigan; and two brothers, Douglas Woodward and his wife, Gayle, in California and Cary A. Woodward and his wife, Susan, in Indiana.

WOODWARD — A celebration of the life of Earl R. “Red” Woodward Jr., who died Saturday, May 18, 2013, will be at the Mars VFW, 331 Mars-Valencia Road, Mars, PA 16046 from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 1.Memorials may be made to Quality EMS, 222 Brickyard Road, Mars, PA 16046 or to the Adams Area Fire District, P.O.
