Arthur Paul 'Pete' Day Sr.

Arthur Day

Arthur Paul “Pete” Day Sr., 65, of Butler passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Feb. 12, 1948, in Butler to the late Samuel Day and Dorothy (Turner) Day.

Mr. Day worked as a truck driver for PNM-Lindy Paving, 1A Construction and Don Martin Trucking, retiring June 1, 2013. He was a lifetime member of the East Butler Fireman's Club and a member of the Summit Township Sportsman Club. “Pete” enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 32 years, Michele (Thomas) Day; two sons, Arthur Day Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Sharon and Jason Day and his wife, Carrie, of Butler; one daughter, Lori Snyder of California; two stepsons, David Gaiser and his wife, Jayme, of Connoquenessing and Ernest Gaiser of Connoquenessing; his father-in-law, Fred Thomas Sr. of Connoquenessing; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Day and his wife, Sandy, of Eau Claire and John Day of Butler; two brothers-in-law, Fred Thomas Jr. and his wife, Terri, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Devin Thomas and his wife, Cindy, of Ellwood City; two sisters, Dorothy Eichenauer of Butler and Mary Ziegler of Butler; two sisters-in-law, Val-Dean Scott and her husband, Randy, of Connoquenessing Township and Corinne Thomas of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and his mother-in-law, Shirley Ann Thomas.

DAY — Friends of Arthur Paul “Pete” Day Sr., who passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 5 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Kurt Knobel of Connoquenessing Methodist Church officiating.Interment will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorials are suggested to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Road, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
