Police nab suspected drug dealers
Butler police today arrested two Philadelphia men — both convicted felons — and seized nearly $12,000 in cash and an illegal handgun from a city apartment turned into a suspected crack house.
Michael Darnell Willie Jr. and Fareek Rashon Thomas, however, apparently managed to flush down the toilet any crack cocaine before officers got into their rental home in the 300 block of Walker Avenue, police said.
Willie, 29, and Thomas, 25, are being held in the Butler County Prison on $150,000 bail each on drug and weapons charges.
District Judge Pete Shaffer arraigned Willie on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies.
Both defendants also were arraigned on felony charges of convicts not to possess firearms and possessing a gun with a filed off serial number.
Additionally, they are charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
Willie faces a separate misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Police said that Huffman also faces misdemeanor drug possession charges.
