PITTSBURGH — Officials at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium have removed a baby gorilla from his mother's care after she developed an infection.

Staff are feeding the baby formula and holding him around the clock. Zookeepers say they noticed the mother, Moka, was pushing the baby away while nursing.

The baby will be reintroduced to his family when he starts eating solid foods and can be trained to regularly meet zoo staff to receive a bottle.

PITTSBURGH — The Department of Environmental Protection has issued an ozone air quality alert for much of Pennsylvania.The DEP says the code orange alert is in effect today for the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, Liberty-Clairton, and Susquehanna Valley areas. Orange represents unhealthy pollution levels for sensitive people, and red warns of unhealthy pollution levels for everyone.
