'Clifford' comes to Children's Museum

“Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog” is newly opened at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. “Paws-on” activities include a 9-foot tall Clifford replica with a slide.

PITTSBURGH — “Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog” is now open at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square on the North Side.

Meet Clifford, his best friend Emily Elizabeth and the residents of Birdwell Island including Clifford’s canine friends Cleo, T-Bone and Mac for “paws-on” adventures such as:

Taking the wheel of the Birdwell Island Ferry

Sliding down the tail of a 9-foot tall Clifford replica

Looking for buried treasure and building a sandcastle on T-Bone’s beach

Crawling through the tunnel in Cleo’s Backyard.

“Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog” was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum together with Scholastic Entertainment.

In honor of the Clifford exhibit, a studio program will focus on making two-dimensional and installation art that is big and red, like Clifford.

The Big & Red program will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Children’s Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, although the museum will be closed Monday for Memorial Day.

Admission is $13 for adults and $12 for senior citizens and children ages 2 to 18. Parking is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers.
