Clyde E. McCaslin

Clyde E. McCaslin, 87, of Butler passed away at 1 a.m. Saturday under the loving and compassionate care of the staff at the VA Butler Healthcare, Halls of Honor Hospice.

He was born July 13, 1925, at the family home in South Butler to the late George Haley McCaslin and Nellie Schlagel McCaslin.

Mr. McCaslin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre during World War II.

He worked at Franklin Glass in Renfrew until it closed in 1980. He then worked as an assembler of equipment at MECO International in Warrendale, retiring in June 1990.

He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Meridian.

Mr. McCaslin is survived by one son, John H. McCaslin and his wife, Kathy, of Poland, Ohio; two daughters, Susan Wingfield and her husband, Terry, of Butler and Jean Dillaman and her husband, Lanny, of West Sunbury; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma Borcz of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jane (Kennedy) McCaslin, who he married April 26, 1948, and who passed away Jan. 29, 2005; and three sisters.

The family of Clyde McCaslin would like to thank the staff from Amedisys Hospice and VA Butler Healthcare, Halls of Honor Hospice, for the wonderful care given to Clyde and the support provided to his family over the past 18 months. Their compassion and affection were greatly appreciated and will be remembered.

MCCASLIN — Friends of Clyde E. McCaslin, who passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, were received Sunday the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. A funeral service was held immediately following at the funeral home with Chaplain Robert Smith of VA Butler Healthcare officiating.
