Louis J. DeStasio, 61, of Rattigan Road, Donegal Township died Thursday night in Butler Memorial Hospital.

After graduation from Karns City High School in 1969, he became a file clerk for Social Security at the National Underground Mine in Boyers, and worked for 39 years until his retirement this year.

He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Cathlic Church, the Altar-Rosary Society of the church and the Chicora Moose Lodge.

He was born in Butler on April 22, 1951, to the late Patsy DeStasio and Anna Miano DeStasio.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Peter DeStasio; and his sister and her husband, Carmella ‘Boots’ and Donald Keck.

He is survived by one brother, Dominick and his wife, Terry DeStasio, of Volant; one sister, Patricia and her husband, Raphael Popovitch, of Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.

DESTASIO — Friends of Louis J. DeStasio, who died Thursday, April 11, 2013, will be received Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.

A celebration of life, Mass of Christian burial, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mater Dolorosa Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph Pudichery, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
