Vehicle overturns this morning on turnpike
WARRENDALE — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle accident today on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Warrendale Toll Plaza, just east of the Cranberry Ramp.
Two two medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene.
According to Butler County 911 dispatches, emergency crews initially had a tough time finding the accident as police and rescue crews searched along the turnpike and dispatchers pinpointed the location through the use of the caller’s cellular phone.
The accident, which occurred about 11 a.m., had the vehicle overturned. At least three people were reported in the vehicle.
One of those patients was taken via ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment, according to the dispatches.
One of the victims had a broken leg.
A portion of the turnpike was closed while emergency crews worked to the rescue the victims.
The state police, and fire units from Cranberry Township, Zelienople and Marshall Township, Allegheny County, responded.
