Kathryn Hughes

Kathryn J. Hughes, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice after a short stay.

She was born in Cecil, Washington County, Pa., to the late Harry R. DeLair and Sarah Amanda (Shaffer) DeLair.

Mrs. Hughes was a graduate of Penn Township High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed babysitting and did some work as a receptionist.

She was a member of the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star Butler Chapter 45, the Tanglewood Senior Center and the Tri-County Country Music Association. Mrs. Hughes enjoyed dancing, serving on high school reunion planning committees and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by one son, Arthur Hughes and his wife, Sandra, of Renfrew; one daughter, Shirley Chastulik and her husband, George, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Stephen Hughes, Douglas Hughes and Christopher Hughes; two brothers, Clair DeLair of Butler and Dale DeLair of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Hughes, who passed away in 1976; three brothers, Lawrence DeLair Sr., William DeLair and Dean DeLair; and three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Martha) Lewis, Mrs. John (Harriet) Dougherty and Mrs. William (Bernadette) Dodds.

HUGHES — Friends of Kathryn J. Hughes, who passed away Wednesday April 3, 2013, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Kurt Knobel of the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church officiating. Immediately after the funeral, burial will take place in the Summit Presbyterian Church Cemetery.The officers and members of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 45 will assemble at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a brief Eastern Star Service.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
