Edna Bennett

Edna Blanche Bennett, 98, formerly of Chicora Road, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1914, in Harmony, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Shaffer and Ollie (Critchlow) Shaffer.

Edna was a former member of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church and the Grace Reformed Church of Harmony. She also was a life member of the Maqueda Eastern Star 421 and the White Shrine Jerusalem Good Samaritan 32. She had served as secretary and treasurer for the Butler Horseman’s Association and served as an announcer at its yearly horse show.

Edna worked for 35 years at Bennett Studio, seven years as a cashier for the Murphy’s Mart cafeteria and five years for Ron Bennett Studio.

Surviving are her four grandchildren, Terry Bennett, Rodney Bennett, Cheryl Fennell and Diana Joy Waller, all of Butler; her six great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Delores Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her three sons, Ralph L., Ronald L. and Roger R. Bennett, six brothers and three sisters.

BENNETT — Friends of Edna Blanche Bennett, who passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today.Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday.
