Andrew Michaels

Andrew S. Michaels, 92, of Butler died Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born April 28, 1920, in Lyndora. He was a son of the late Tony and Habsie (Moses) Mike.

He worked in the Erection Department for the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler, until his retirement in 1976.

Andrew was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler, was a life member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler, and had enjoyed playing poker on Tuesday nights, and trips to Las Vegas. He was an avid cigar smoker.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his stepson, Bob (Michele) Napleton of Butler; his step- granddaughter, Nicole Napleton of Butler; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including his caregivers, Shelley and Lisa. He also is survived by his beloved cat, Fluffy.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary A. Michaels, who died in 1976, and Josephine (Napleton) Michaels, who died in 2006. He also was the last surviving member of his immediate family of eight children.

MICHAELS — Friends of Andrew S. Michaels, who died Thursday, April 4, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler. His pastor, the Rev. James Dollhopf, will officiate. Internment with military honors will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
