Auditions slated for summer shows

Musical Theatre Guild of Butler will conduct auditions for “Suds — The Rockin’ ’60s Musical Soap Opera” at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at MTG’s William A. Lehnerd Production Center at the rear of Butler Memorial Park.

With a book by Melinda Gilb, Steve Gunderson and Bryan Scott, “Suds” incorporates many well known songs from the ’60s.

Parts are available for three adult women and one adult man. Show dates are July 19, 20, 26 and 27 plus a matinee on July 28.

Freeport Theatre Festival will hold auditions for its 24th summer season from 2 and 5 p.m. May 12 and 19.

The season will include two premieres: “Battle of Bushy Run,” a new historical drama by Rennick Steele, and “Rivertown Firemen’s Jubilee,” a “musical play” with original music composed by Drew Fennell (River City Brass) and the story based on a book by Steele.

Actors with strong vocal technique are needed for the “Rivertown Firemen’s Jubilee” show.

Show dates for “Battle of Bushy Run” are July 12 to 14, 19 to 21, and 26 to 28, and dates for “Rivertown Firemen’s Jubilee” are Aug. 16 to 18, 23 to 25, 30 and 31 and Sept. 1.

The Armstrong Community Theater will conduct auditions for the musical “Hello Dolly” at 5 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday at the Worthington Civic Center in the basement of Building B.

Those auditioning should prepare a song selection to sing and will be asked to do a cold reading from the script. Auditions are open to anyone 15 and older.
