John J. Herp Sr.
John J. “Butch” Herp Sr., 72, of Cranberry Township passed away Thursday while under the care of the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.
Born Nov. 7, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John P. and Eleanor (Scanlon) Herp.
Butch was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending time outdoors whenever he got the chance. Butch especially enjoyed time spent at his camp in Tionesta.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 53 years, Dionna (Kuhn) Herp, who he married on Dec. 19, 1959; his three daughters, Bonnie Herp (Terry Caldwell) of Valencia, Sandy Armstrong (Rich Nicklas) of Zelienople and Marsha Stewart and her husband, Charles, of Bruin; his son, John J. Herp Jr. of Cranberry Township; his sister Eleanora Misencik of Tionesta; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
HERP — The family of John J. “Butch” Herp Sr., who died Thursday, March 28, 2013, will welcome friends on Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. George Dalton, celebrant. Friends, please meet at the church.
