Josephine Acquaviva

Josephine P. Acquaviva, 91, of Butler passed away Saturday evening at her home.

She was born in Hillsville, Pa., on May 12, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Gagliano.

She was a homemaker, and enjoyed playing golf. She was also an avid reader. She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by three sons, Donald G. Acquaviva Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Carl J. Acquaviva of Butler and Patrick J. Acquaviva and his wife, Patty, of Butler; one daughter, Apryle Acquaviva of Butler; and one brother, James Gagliano and his wife, Rose, of Bessemer, Pa. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. “Dan” Acquaviva Sr., who passed away Oct. 23, 2005; three brothers, and five sisters.

ACQUAVIVA — Friends of Josephine P. Acquaviva, who died Saturday, March 23, 2013, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a Scriptural Wake Service.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net
