BHS prepares 'Just Another' spring comedy

Butler High School will present “Just Another High School Play” as its all-school spring play at 7:30 p.m. May 3 and 4 in the senior high school auditorium.

The 90-minute comedy covers nearly every angle of the typical high school play with a dose of history and improvisation thrown in.

In the play, a group of actors who have apparently been abandoned by their drama teacher have to fend for themselves opening night in front of a live audience. Their teacher has left them hanging because no one has been showing up to rehearsals and no one is really quite sure what they are supposed to do.

The student assistant director and the stage manager step in, find a box of scripts which they pass out to the cast and try to throw something together. What follows is a show full of physical comedy and satirical rewritings of many plays from Shakespeare to Edward Albee.

Admission is $5 at the door.

The cast includes:

Samantha Barnhart as the narrator/announcer.

Carly Ratica as the stage manager.

Amy Achenbach as the assistant director.

Bonnie Klopfer as a female thespian, Juliet, and a ghost.

AnnMarie Lowerre as a grad student, Noel, Meg and a puppeteer.

Jess Donato as a stagehand, barkeep, plant 1 and Carrie.

Natalie VanLaningham as Teena, Beth, Emily and a female lead.
