The Associated Artists of Butler County opens the Butler County High School Art Show with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St. The exhibit will continue through May 3.

The Art of Recycling Show continues through May 11 in the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.

LYNDORA — The sixth annual Butler Paranormal Conference, hosted by the Butler Organization for Research of the Unexplained and the Center for Unexplained Events, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave.Admission is $10 at the door.Scheduled speakers include Stan Gordon, independent UFO-Bigfoot researcher and author; the Rev. EVANS CITY — Living history demonstrations of colonial trades such as cooking, spinning, woodworking and knot tying will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4 at Providence Plantation, 300 Textor Hill Road.Events will include a living history character interpretation: “Christopher Gist and Archaeology in the Ohio Valley,” plus a question-and-answer session and period music.Each program is about 90 minutes long.Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for those under 12. Butler Little Theatre will conclude its season with “The Fox on the Fairway” May 10 to 18 at the theater at One Howard St.The Ken Ludwig farce will go on at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.Tickets are $10 and will be available to members only on Tuesday and Wednesday and to the general public starting May 2.Call 724-287-6781.

SAXONBURG — The Saxonburg Area Artists Cooperative will host its fourth annual High School Senior Invitational Exhibit opening with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 4 at the gallery, 215 W. Main St., rear. The students and their instructors will be on hand. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.The exhibit will continue through June 1 during regular gallery hours of noon to 8 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays.The high schools invited include: Freeport, Knoch, Avonworth, Deer Lakes, Highlands, St. Joseph, Shaler and Valley.The cooperative will be awarding $1,000 in Art Achievement Awards due to a contribution from the Henschel family. FRANKLIN — The fourth annual Taste of Talent Vocal Competition, sponsored by the Franklin Fine Arts Council, is open to individual soloists age 16 and older. The competition will be held at Bandstand Park, downtown.Registration may be submitted through the end of April. Competitions will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays starting June 26 and running through July 24. Semifinals will take place at 7 p.m. Aug. 3, and the finals will be at 4 p.m. Aug. 4.The winner will receive $1,000.
