Web auction benefits N. Catholic school

WARRENDALE, ALLEGHENY COUNTY — The Diocese of Pittsburgh again will hold a fundraising auction here Friday night, but supporters don’t have to leave their homes to bid on items.

That’s because the diocese is embracing the Internet for the auction. Anyone interested in viewing the auction items may do so at www.biddingforgood.com/northcatholic.

Michelle Diehl, a 1982 North Catholic graduate, is setting up the 27th annual Trojan Triumph Auction. The fundraiser will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday at the Four Points Sheraton hotel.

Some of the money raised will help pay for the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School being built in Cranberry Township.

Diehl said there are a bevy of interesting items up for auction, items that include tickets to sporting events, and signed player memorabilia. There also will be jewelry, art and tickets to concerts.

“We’re going to have about 200 people at the hotel for the auction, but there are 4 million subscribers on the website who can see our items online,” Diehl said. “The auction is actually already open.”

The diocese has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for students and projects through past auctions.
