Beatrice Hoehn

Beatrice I. “Bea” Hoehn, 83, of Butler passed away at 3:05 p.m. Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Butler to the late Robert W. Smithers and Laura M. (Vinroe) Smithers.

Mrs. Hoehn was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mrs. Hoehn enjoyed her family and also reading, watching television, canning, gardening and bingo.

Mrs. Hoehn is survived by one daughter, Barbara Hemphill Ganz of Middletown, N.J.; two sons, Robert C. Hoehn Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Renfrew and Allen L. Hoehn Jr. and his wife, Claudia Matula-Hoehn, of Butler; one granddaughter, Rebecca Murtha and her husband, Keith, of Clarion; four grandsons, Robert C. Hoehn Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, of Butler, Mark A. Hoehn and his wife, Kerri, of Portersville, Brian W. Hemphill and his wife, Jennifer, of Neptune, N.J., and Alexander J. Hoehn of Butler; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Roselee Smithers of McMinnville, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen L. “Al” Hoehn, who she married on March 9, 1946, and who passed away on Aug. 2, 2006; one infant sister; one sister, Wilma R. Grine; one brother, Maurice A. Smithers; and one son-in-law, Michael Ganz.

HOEHN — Friends of Beatrice I. “Bea” Hoehn, 83, of Butler who passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Thompson — Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman, officiating.Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 201 W.
