Maxine McCall

Maxine Grace McCall, 84, of the Caring Place, Franklin, formerly of Emlenton, passed away Saturday evening at the Caring Place following a period of declining health.

She was born in Emlenton on Jan. 15, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Grace E. Weeter Ritchey.

Maxine was a graduate of the former Emlenton High School and the Franklin Commercial College in December 1947. She was a Protestant.

She was employed by the REA of Parker for a number of years and later was the secretary for Westminster Highlands near Emlenton.

Maxine had a unique fondness for nature, especially feeding deer as they lived on her property. She studied and cared for birds and was involved with Project Feeder Watch by the Cornell University Lab of Orinithology.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane (Michael) Morkin of Franklin; two sons, Donald (Eileen) McCall, Cmdr., USN-Ret. of Virginia Beach, Va., and Larry (Shari) McCall of Eau Claire; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly (Robert) Eckelbarger of Emlenton and June Kozikowski of Centerville, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar R. McCall, who she married Oct. 8, 1952, and who passed away April 9, 1991. Mr. and Mrs. McCall tragically lost a son, Stanley L. McCall, in an oil drilling accident on Dec. 3, 1980, in Texas.

MCCALL — Friends of Maxine Grace McCall, who passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
