Thelma Courson

Thelma R. Courson, 91, of Sugar Maple Lane, Emlenton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at her home.

Thelma Rose was born in Kaylor, Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County, on Dec. 8, 1921. She was the daughter of Ferdinand “Fred” and Fabina Grazioli Serafine.

She was a graduate of Pine Run School in Bradys Bend.

During World War II, she worked as a welder at Curtis Wright Propeller Factory.

Thelma was a longtime active member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton, and a member of the church’s Altar rosary Society.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

She was married on July 11, 1942, in Bradys Bend to Harry D. Courson, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, James D. Courson and his wife, Susan, of Emlenton; a daughter, Rose Ann Larimore of Butler and her fiance, Ron Klingler, of Schreveport, La.; six grandsons, Aaron Larimore and his wife, Darcy, Clayton J. Courson and his wife, Tammy, Jason Larimore and his wife, Rhonda, Tyson Larimore and his wife, Lucretia, Adam Courson and Bradford Courson; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Emilee, Hannah, Jordan, Jaydn and Cora; a brother, Fred C. Serafine Jr. of Emlenton; two sisters, Virginia Morrow of Tarentum and Wilma Texter and her husband, Kenneth, of Karns City; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister-in-law.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor, Andrew and David; four sisters, Esther, Ella, Edna and Lena, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

COURSON — Friends of Thelma R. Courson, who passed away Wednesday March 6, 2013, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton, with the Rev. Charles Schmitt, priest in residence, officiating. Interment will be at St. Marys Cemetery in Bradys Bend.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Courson's memory may be made to the Altar rosary Society of the St. Michael Church, P.O.
