Adam Falco, Mars National Bank commercial banking officer, says he sets short-term, midterm and long-term goals for himself in his job.
Mars National Bank officer aims to build relationships

MARS — The growth and change Adam Falco has experienced in his 15 years in various banking positions has proven an exceptional teacher when it comes to leadership in customer service.

“We advocate for our customers,” said Falco, who is Mars National Bank's commercial banking officer. “We partner with them to add value to our relationship. That's our goal.”

Falco has been working at Mars National Bank for six years. Before being named commercial banking officer six months ago, Falco served as area manager in the retail network of the bank.

“I continue to grow in my job by setting achievable short-term, midterm and long-term goals for myself,” Falco said.

He also understands the importance of a strong network and tries to use all his resources in his work.

“I try to add value and build strong relationships so people trust me and want to do business with me,” he said.

Falco, who grew up in Oakmont, began his career in banking immediately after graduating from Clarion University with a degree in finance.

He said his current job entails developing relationships with and finding new commercial customers for the bank.

'My entire job revolves around building relationships with customers and prospects,” Falco said.

Mars National Bank was founded in 1900, and prides itself on serving the same communities where its employees live. The bank's primary area of focus is southern Butler, eastern Beaver and northern Allegheny counties.

The bank, which employs about 100 people, continues to grow and add new products and technologies. It focuses on community banking in its six locations.

Falco participated in Leadership Butler County in 2008, and said the program broadened his horizons regarding the county he calls home.

“Living in Cranberry Township, I'm most familiar with southern Butler County,” Falco said. “But when I started exploring the northern part of the county (through Leadership Butler County), I didn't realize a lot of stuff was there.”

Falco defined leadership as being the center of influence.

“Leadership is being able to get folks to lead you in a common direction,” Falco said.

He said leadership in the community also is important. Falco participates in his community through his interests in golf, woodworking, volunteering and coaching his children's sports teams.

“It's about making our corner of the world a better place to live, work and play,” Falco said.

His idea of an effective leader is Steve Jobs, the late founder of Apple.

“He was able to get the most out of his team,” Falco said. “He turned ideas into reality, which defined and changed global markets and saved his company from the brink of bankruptcy.”
