Donna Jean Foss Stevens

Donna Stevens

Donna Jean Foss Stevens, 86, of Karns City went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday following a lingering illness.

She was a loving and precious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in the family home in Karns City on April 5, 1926, as a twin daughter of Robert Donald and Mary Bryan O’Hara Foss.

After graduation from Fairview Township-Karns City High School, she was employed briefly as a secretary with the Sonneborn Corp. Upon the return of the love of her life after World War II and his completion of college, they were married at the United Methodist Church in Karns City on July 7, 1951.

They were blessed to celebrate their wedding reception and their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries on the same date at the same place, St. Jude’s Golf Club, formerly the Ridgeview Country Club.

She lived her life energetically with spunk and from a servant perspective of helping and loving others. She always placed others first and provided unfailing dedication and support to her husband, daughters, parents, sisters, friends and those in need. After her mother’s passing, she was one of the main caregivers to her father and special-needs sister.

Until her illness, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Karns City, where she sang in the choir, served as financial secretary, was an active member of the Who-Do Sunday School class and volunteered in many capacities. During her lifetime, she also served as a volunteer to many community service organizations; the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the Butler County Blood Bank and the March of Dimes to name a few.

She additionally was a member and Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Treble Clef Music Club, the Cavendish Bridge Club and St. Jude’s Golf Club.

She loved God and Christ, spending time with her family, the sun, beach and the out-of-doors, shopping, cooking and taking care of her home and others.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Calvin Lee Stevens; her two loving daughters, Debra Pincek and Elizabeth “Betsy” Stevens, both of Butler; her grandson, Jonathan Pincek of Butler; her two sisters, Mary Joan Stevens of Karns City and twin, Gloria A. Barrett of Butler; several sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patricia Jane Foss.
