Robert L. Burton

Robert Louis Burton, 72, of Slippery Rock Township passed away Tuesday at the VNA Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler.

He was born in Brady Township on Sept. 2, 1940, to Louis Calvin Burton and Mary Francis.

He married Irma Elizabeth Patterson on Jan. 1, 1960.

He worked many years at Adobe Mining. He then worked for Tri County Industries as a mechanic until his retirement. He loved working in his shop at home, where he made wood lawn ornaments, spending time at camp at Holiday Camp Lands in Andover, Ohio, and taking care of his cat, Ki Kie.

He is survived by his wife, Irma E. Burton of Slippery Rock; two brothers-in-law, William Patterson and his wife, Betsy, of Slippery Rock and Roy Thoms of Indiana, Pa.; one sister, Stella Rhodes of Waterford, Ohio; one niece, Susan Ross of Colorado; and one nephew, Gary Thoms of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Audrey Burton and Goldie Thoms.

BURTON — The family of Robert Louis Burton, who died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, will observe private services. There will be no public visitation or viewing.

Arrangements are handled by the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock.

Memorial contributions may be given to the VNA Hospice.
