Grove City High finds 'Sasquatch: The Musical'

Olivia Chuzie and Daniel Wright rehearse “Sasquatch The Musical” at Grove City High School. The show will be staged at 7 p.m. on Thursday and April 12 and 13 in the high school theater.

GROVE CITY — Grove City High School will present an original musical comedy, “Sasquatch: The Musical,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday and April 12 and 13 in the GCHS Theatre, 511 Highland Ave.

Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults and are available at the door.

“Sasquatch: The Musical's” book, music and lyrics were written by GCHS graduates Matthew Lucas and Patrick McElroy.

It will be directed by McElroy, an English teacher and the drama director at Grove City High School.

The orchestration is by Matt Shervey, choir director at GCHS, who will also be music director and pit orchestra conductor.

Ashley Hazy is choreographer while Katie Calano is the costumer.

Will Potter is student director while Charlee Rongaus is student technical director.

In the musical, scientist Kenneth Henderson is called upon to help the struggling town of Spoons, Wash., figure out why all of its children are disappearing.

The locals believe it to be the work of a mysterious creature in the woods, the Sasquatch. Henderson works reluctantly alongside cryptozoologist Jane Goodall to solve the case, while prejudice and hysteria in the town threaten to destroy their progress.

As they close in on the mystery and begin to fall in love, of course, they discover a shocking surprise. And only Sasquatch himself, with the help of an unlikely young hero, will be able to save the day for them and the missing children.
