PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man who couldn’t bear to wait in line for free cake has been arrested for theft.

Hundreds of people were waiting Tuesday morning in downtown Pittsburgh to get free cakes from Buddy Valastro, star of the TV show The Cake Boss.

But police spokesman Diane Richard says that 52-year-old William Davenport of Pittsburgh allegedly took four cakes worth about $27 each from a storage area. When officers stopped Williams he apologized for stealing the cakes and admitted he was intoxicated.
