Joan E. 'Birdie' Vickerman

Joan Eris “Birdie” (Erdner) Vickerman, 84, of Cranberry Township passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on Thursday.

Born March 7, 1928, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothea (Watters) Erdner.

Joan enjoyed life to the fullest, spending her time cooking, knitting and playing the piano. She was very artistic and loved wood carving. Joan was a member of the Audubon Society. Above all, she enjoyed the company of her family and cherished moments spent with them at Conneaut Lake.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two loving daughters, Deborah V. Dunn of Cranberry Township and Carrie Hays of Ohio; her brother, Wayne (Buck) Erdner and his wife, Lin, of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, William J. Dimond III, Molly Stephany, Leigh Vagias, Ronald Dunn, Emily Bush, Jamie Rodriguez and Tara Macher; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry E. Vickerman, who passed away on Oct. 12, 1998.

VICKERMAN — The family of Joan Eris “Birdie” (Erdner) Vickerman, who died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, will welcome friends on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.

A funeral ceremony will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Clint Elliott officiating.

Joan will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Marshall Township.

If desired, memorial donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Celtic Health Care, 150 Scharberry Lane, Mars, PA 16046.
