Silas Kelichner
Silas Kelichner, 93, of Butler passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Troutville, Pa., to the late Phillip Kelichner and Emma Korb Kelichner.
Mr. Kelichner was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He worked as a supervisor at Wise Machine Shop.
Mr. Kelichner was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, boating and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Kelichner is survived by two daughters, Jane F. Thompson of Butler and Carol Wilcox and her husband, Charles, of New Castle; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. (Webster) Kelichner, who he married Aug. 8, 1947, and who passed away Feb. 10, 2007; three brothers; and two sisters.
KELICHNER — Friends of Silas Kelichner, who passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held immediately following at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Maitland, officiating.
