Dr. Dale E. Hamilton

Dale Hamilton

Dr. Dale E. Hamilton, 90, of Zelienople died Monday.

Born March 1, 1922, in Mars, he was the son of the late Walter M. and Rena (Peters) Hamilton.

He was a graduate of Mars High School, Geneva College, and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. He practiced dentistry in Zelienople for 37 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of Park United Presbyterian Church, where he sang bass in the choir since 1952. He also served several terms as an elder. He was a member of Zelienople Lions Club, where he served as president two times and was a Melvin Jones Fellow.

In his dental fraternity, Delta Sigma Delta, he served as president of the undergraduate chapter and also the graduate chapter in Pittsburgh.

A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the Army Medical Corps attached to a B-24 heavy bomber group, serving two-and-a-half years in the South Pacific. He was a life member of Harmony Lodge 429 F.&A.M., the Syria Shrine in Pittsburgh and Valley of New Castle Consistory.

In addition, he enjoyed golfing, skiing, woodworking, hunting and fishing, and he was a Steelers and Pirates fan.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Harbusch) Hamilton, who he married on Oct. 13, 1951; his three sons, Dennis (Carol) Hamilton, Bill (Patty) Hamilton and Scott (Jackie) Hamilton; his daughter, Barbara (Michael) Druschel; his eight grandchildren, Lonnie (Jim) Paxton, Eric, Ben and Valerie Hamilton, Caitlin Hamilton, Melissa (Bryce) Salamone and Natalie and Derek Druschel; four great-grandchildren, Kieran, Taegan, Bron and Cael Paxton; his sister, Roma McKibbin of Tucson, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.

HAMILTON — The Hamilton family will welcome friends of Dr. Dale E. Hamilton, who died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Paul Merrill officiating.
