Elsie A. Hunsberger Smith, 82, of West Sunbury graduated to Glory on Friday morning.

She was the daughter of the late Mary and George Hunsberger of Clarion.

Elsie's favorite thing to do was spending time with her family and being surrounded by them all. She loved to crochet, mostly blankets, and had been an avid bowler for years.

Elsie had been active in her church, the West Sunbury United Presbyterian, and served on many committees. Her favorite was the women's missionary.

She also served on the Moniteau School Board for 11 years, was one of the directors for the Butler Vo-Tech program and was a member of the women's auxiliary for the West Sunbury American Legion Post 243. She retired from the custodial staff for the Moniteau School District.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert H. Smith, to whom she was married to for 67 years; five daughters, Linda (Don) Nagy of Butler, Wendy (Al) Hortert of West Sunbury, Peggy (Bill) Morris of Oil City, Ruth (Larry) Haugh of Brookville and Bobbi (John) Wiles of Hilliards. Also surviving are five granddaughters, Pamela (Tom) Huff, Jodi (Dave) Laughlin, Ashley Hortert, Terra (Donnie) Deal and Amanda Kradel; three grandsons, Eric (Bailey) Hortert, RJ Wiles and Michael Kradel; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Sylvia Estes of Erie.

She has left a legacy of love.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Larry Smith and Kenneth George Smith; seven sisters; and five brothers.

SMITH — Friends of Elsie A. Hunsberger Smith, who died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.Visitation also will be at the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeffrey Lang, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.The family of Elsie Smith would like to thank the caregivers of the VNA Hospice for all the care and support to mom and the family.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VNA Hospice or to the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church.
