Rock baseball cruises
Slippery Rock University’s baseball team plated six runs in the bottom of the second inning and went on to defeat a Division I school and previously unbeaten Dartmouth 7-3 Wednesday afternoon in Florida.
Will Kengor and Jake Nogalo both tallied two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Kengor’s effort included a double and Jake Weibley added a solo home run.
Picking up the victory for The Rock (13-4) was starter Anton Constantino, who hurled seven shutout innings while striking out four, walking none and allowing seven hits.
Ryan Oglesby and Lou Trivino both pitched an inning of relief, with the former allowing the three runs to Dartmouth (8-1) in the eighth inning.
Women’s LacrosseSRU received goals from 12 different players in a 24-5 season-opening win over Catawba College in Myrtle Beach, S.C.Leading the offensive outburst was Lauren Laubach, who scored five goals and had two assists. Morgan Pettit, Katie Cook and Kaytlin Callaghan each added three goals and Paige Costantino contributed a game-high five assists.
