Mary Magdalen 'Mag' Soltesz Carver

Mary Magdalen “Mag” (Soltesz) Carver, 82, of Zelienople passed away Sunday while under the care of the Creek Meadows Senior Guest Haus in Franklin Township.

She was born March 31, 1930, in Zelienople. She was the daughter of the late Menyhart and Helen (Horvath) Soltesz.

Mag was a lifetime and devoted member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church. Her strong faith sustained her throughout her entire life. She directed the church choirs and shared her knowledge and love of music with the children of the parish school. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines.

She was a wonderful cook who delighted in finding a good bargain. Mag loved golfing, bowling, traveling to the beach, supporting all of the Pittsburgh sporting teams and watching figure skating. But above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and especially her sisters.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, James T. Carver of Zelienople, who she married on Feb. 22, 1948; her six loving children, Diane Sims and her husband, Paul, of Fombell, Peggy Ragusa of Harmony, Bonnie Kugel and her husband, Ron, of Evans City, Lisa Szakelyhidi and her husband, Rob, of Harmony, Amy McStay and her husband, Doug, of Cranberry Township and Chris Carver and his wife, Beth, of Coraopolis; her sister, Kathryn Hartmann of Zelienople; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two of her sons, James and Kenneth Carver; two brothers; three sisters; and her granddaughter, Rachel.

CARVER — The Carver family will welcome friends of Mary Magdalen “Mag” (Soltesz) Carver, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople, with Father Lawrence R. Smith, celebrant.She will be laid to rest at the St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in Zelienople.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor in support of the St. Gregory Catholic Church Music Ministry, 2 W.
