Flora E. DeGregory Cemate
Flora E. DeGregory Cemate, 95, of Forestville, formerly of Grove City and Boyers, died at 3:20 a.m. Monday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice two weeks after sustaining injuries from a fall of which she could not recover.
She was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Grove City. Flora was the daughter of late Dominick and the late Ruth Petrozelle DeGregory.
She was a graduate of Grove City High School. Prior to marriage, she was employed in Grove City by Peters and Sloan as a bookkeeper and by the Penn Grove Hotel as a switchboard operator and secretary.
She married Dominick F. Cemate on June 22, 1946, in Grove City. They were married for 58 years, until his death on March 4, 2005.
She was a homemaker and member of the St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church of Forestville. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild of the church.
Flora loved to cook, plant vegetables and flowers and discuss politics. She was a kind, poised and generous lady who always put others first.
Surviving are a son, John D. Cemate of Forestville; a daughter, Ruth A. Klingensmith and her husband, Robert J., of Harrisville; a sister, Blanche Bonanni of Grove City; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brother-in-laws.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Daniel, Michael and David DeGregory; one sister, Mary Grazaini; and two infant sisters.
CEMATE — Visitation for Flora E. DeGregory Cemate, who died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, with the Rev. Fr. Kevin Poecking as celebrant. She will be buried at Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.Donations in Flora’s name can be made to the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
