Nellie Esther Causer Brydon
Nellie Esther Causer Brydon, 80, of Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday at Orchard Manor, Grove City, following an extended illness.
She was born in Grove City on Aug. 25, 1932, to Albert Theodore Causer and Sophia Helen Gardner Causer. She married George Samuel “Sam” Brydon on June 20, 1953.
Nellie was a homemaker and had previously worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Slippery Rock.
She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, cross stitching and reading. She was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Kings Daughters.
Surviving are her husband, George Samuel Brydon of Slippery Rock; one son, S. Joseph Brydon (Denise) of Slippery Rock; three daughters, Rebecca Sue Coyer (Ronald) of Slippery Rock, Elizabeth Ann Dickey (Robert) of Slippery Rock and Melissa Lynn McCloskey (Jerry) of Sandy Lake; and one sister, Betty J. Spencer (Fred) of Slippery Rock.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Katie Brydon Hall (Joe), Adam and Alex Brydon, Rachel Coyer Stadler (Paul), Megan Coyer, Thomas Coyer, Jacob McCloskey, Karilyn “Kari” McCloskey and Cassidy McCloskey.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Sophia Scott; and a brother, Albert T. Causer.
BRYDON — Visitation for Nellie Esther Causer Brydon, who died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Keith McIlwain, pastor of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, officiating.
