BUFFALO TWP — Lernerville Speedway will hold its annual awards banquet March 16 at the Willow Tree/Comfort Inn & Suites in RIDC Park.

Tickets must be purchased by Monday and are available by calling the speedway at 724-353-1511.

The Clearview Mall Car Show — featuring cars from Lernerville — is scheduled for March 21-23. Lernerville begins its season April 14 with the finale of the DIRTcar RoundUp Steel City Stampede.

TAMPA, Fla. — 2010 Lernerville Speedway Sprint car champion Danny Holtgraver recently won the 12th annual Ronald Laney Memorial/”King of the 360s” World of Outlaws race at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla.The $10,000 payday was the biggest of Holtgraver's career.

Two members of the Niagara University pitching staff — Anthony Caringi and Jordan Schwartz — will join the Butler BlueSox this summer.Caringi has started three games for the Purple Eagles this season, striking out 14 and allowing nine hits over 10.2 innings. Schwartz started 10 games and made 10 relief appearances as a freshman for Niagara last season. He has three appearances and a save so far this year.BlueSox, Sliders home openers setThe Butler BlueSox will begin their 2013 Prospect League baseball season May 28 against Chillicothe at Pullman Park.The Slippery Rock Sliders will play their first six games on the road before hosting the BlueSox June 4 at Critchfield Park.
