Barbara Jane Mato

Barbara Jane Mato, 96, of Butler passed away at 11:30 p.m. Friday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

She was born June 8, 1916, in Connellsville, to the late John Sobodas and Mary Kocisko Sobodas.

Mrs. Mato worked as a cashier at Thorofare Supermarkets in Moon Township. She was a Catholic, and she attended the North Main Street Church of God. Mrs. Mato enjoyed gardening and being with her family.

Mrs. Mato is survived by one son, Lawrence R. “Larry” Mato and his wife, Sandra, of Butler; three grandchildren, Gregory Mato of Evans City, Pamela Krause of Butler and Deborah Konsinski of Evans City; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mato, who passed away Nov. 3, 1986; one daughter, Patricia Ellen Oshop; and several sisters and brothers.

MATO — Friends of Barbara Jane Mato, who passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Brandon Lenhart of the North Main Street Church of God officiating.
