Mary (Lukon) Protch, 93, of Lyndora died Thursday evening at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Oct. 13, 1919, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Nick and Anna (Vanish) Lukon.

Mary was employed at a Butler shirt factory as a collar presser until she retired when the factory was closed.

She was a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. She was also a member of St. John Ladies Guild and the Tanglewood Center.

She was a homemaker and caregiver to her family and her late husband, Joseph Protch, who she was married to for 47 years. She was very faithful in her religion and provided care for friends and neighbors, as well as her family. Mary was a very loving aunt who treated two of her nephews and a niece as her own children.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret Yurkovich of Lyndora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Protch, who she married May 19, 1956, and who died June 30, 2005; three brothers, John, Mike and George Lukon; and one sister, Helen Lukon.

PROTCH — Friends of Mary (Lukon) Protch, who died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Parastas services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Leo Scholsser, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
