Elder L. 'Buzz' Rape
Elder L. “Buzz” Rape, 79, of Cranberry Township went home to be with the Lord Wednesday at Passavant Retirement Community.
Born Nov. 3, 1933, in Cranberry Township, he was the son of the late Abraham and Susie (Hartzel) Rape.
For more than 29 years he was employed by Halstead Industries in Zelienople.
Buzz proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Unionville American Legion Post 512 and Mars VFW Post 7505. He was also a member of the Big Knob Antique Tractor and Equipment Association and the Portersville Steam Association. Above all, Buzz enjoyed working on his farm and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy “Dottie” (Fogal) Rape, who he married Sept. 24, 1960; his two daughters, Linda Rape of Zelienople and Patty (Raymond) Nunamaker of New Castle; his son, Charles (Jenny) Rape of Cranberry Township; his three grandchildren, Amy, Kimberly and Adam Rape; and his two brothers, Franklin O. Rape of Cranberry Township and Ronald H. Rape of Zelienople.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl A. Rape; his twin sister, Eleanor L. Stauffer; and his two sisters, Marjorie A. Smith and Gladys M. Mohr.
RAPE — Friends of Elder L. “Buzz” Rape, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Reformed Church in Zelienople with the Rev. James R. Bertoti officiating.
