Shirley Hassler

Shirley Jean Hassler, 82, of Butler passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born July 19, 1930, in West Kittanning, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Ocie (Bowser) Moyer.

Shirley was a member of the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially camping at Wolfe’s Campground.

Surviving are her daughter, Denise and Fred Fester, and three grandsons, Tyler and Austin Wilcox and Zachary Fester; son, Dennis Hassler and his fiancée, Kristen Campbell, and three granddaughters, Shelby, Ashley and Katey Hassler, and one grandson on the way; daughter, Patty Sticka; sons, Ronald and Donald Long; two stepsons, Melvin (Sonny) and Rick Hassler; stepdaughter, Beverly Balog; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin E. Hassler Sr., who she married April 19, 1969, and who died Dec. 3, 2006; and a brother, Robert Moyer.

HASSLER — Friends of Shirley Jean Hassler, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with her pastor, the Rev. W. Lee Dryer officiating.
