Donald O. Oesterling, 85, of Bedford, Va., formerly of Butler, Harrisburg, Pa., and Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Sunday at the Elks National Home in Bedford, Va.

He was born June 2, 1927, in Butler, and was the son of the late Victor K. and Marjorie (Oswald) Oesterling.

Donald was a Pennsylvania state senator from 1964 to 1972, a past state president of Pennsylvania Elks, a past exalted ruler of Butler Elks 170 and a member of American Legion Post 0852 and VFW Post 249.

Surviving are his wife, Ann (McDowell) Oesterling of Bedford, Va.; a daughter, Dawn Prebula of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Michael J. Oesterling of Potomac, Md., and Peter J. Oesterling of Baltimore, Ohio; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Samuel Oesterling of Cabot and Thomas O. Oesterling of Naples, Fla.

He also was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Oesterling.
