SRU tops LH, 94-76

SLIPPERY ROCK — Five players scored in double figures Wednesday night as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team rolled past Lock Haven, 94-76, at Morrow Field House.

The win, coupled with Gannon’s 57-54 loss at Edinboro, moved SRU (16-6, 13-5) into a second place tie in the PSAC West standings.

SRU and Gannon trail division leader Indiana by two games with five games left on the schedule.

Darious Clark scored 19 points to pace The Rock. Gerald Brooks recorded his fifth double-double of the season by scoring 16 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing out four assists.

John Bayardelle, Sa’Quan Davis and Devin Taylor all scored 10 points for SRU.

Lock Haven (5-16, 3-15) suffered its 12th straight loss. Wali Hepburn, the PSAC’s leading scorer at 21.4 points per game, paced the Bald Eagles with 22 points. Kasheef Festus added 21.

The Rock shot 49 percent (36 of 73) from the floor in the victory.

Lock Haven 90, SRU (women) 86 — Emily Daugherty snapped an 80-80 tie by hitting a 3-pointer with 1:50 remaining for Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles maintained the lead at the foul line.

Alexas Brown led all scorers for The Rock (4-14, 3-15) with 26 points. Erinne Cunningham contributed 18.

Sami Lane came off thebench to score 21 points to lead Lock Haven (7-15, 4-14).

SRU hosts Edinboro in a doubleheader Saturday, the women’s game at 1 p.m., the men’s game at 3 p.m.
