John H. “Sonny” Montgomery Jr., 68, of Butler died Thursday morning at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born in McKees Rocks on Oct. 10, 1944, a son of John H. and Nancy Elizabeth Levier Montgomery Sr.

Sonny had worked most of his life as a long distance, over-the-road truck driver, driving for several companies. Following that, he was a greeter at the Butler Wal-Mart Supercenter for several years and currently was a security guard for Am-Gard Inc. in Pittsburgh.

He is survived by two sons, Carl (Heather) Tillander and John H. (Kayla) Montgomery III, all of Butler; three daughters, Lisa Butler of Florida, Kimberly (Eric) Hilliard of Butler and Raelene Miller of West Virginia; one stepson, Robert Domingeuz of Florida; two stepdaughters, Marlene Dickens of Baltimore and Debbie Tillander of Montana; four sisters, Marilyn Jurysta of Springdale, Betty (John) LeFevre of Butler, Elsie Double of Prospect and Harriet (Larry) Miller of Butler; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a 2-year-old daughter, Erica Lynn Montgomery.

MONTGOMERY — There will not be a visitation for John H. “Sonny” Montgomery Jr., who died Thursday, Jan. 10. 2013. A private family gathering will take place at their convenience.

Following cremation, inurnment will be at West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
