Mary Jane K. Murphy Ifft
Mary Jane K. Murphy Ifft, 88, of Richland Township, formerly of Zelienople, passed away Saturday at St. John's Specialty Care Center in Mars.
Born Sept. 1, 1924, in Connellsville, she was the daughter of the late Peter M. and Cleo L. (Gallagher) Murphy.
Jane was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Zelienople for many years. She was a 1945 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital nursing program.
After 24 years of dedicated service as a registered nurse, she retired in July 1990 from UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
After retirement, she volunteered at Passavant Hospital, and during her free time, she enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Keenagers, the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a former president of the Junior Women's Club in Evans City.
Jane and her husband, Frederick, owned and operated Ifft's Golden Dawn in Evans City.
She is survived by her four children, Dr. Fred Nicholas Ifft of Philadelphia, Sherry L. Ifft of Carrollton, Texas, Thomas P. Ifft of California and Randy J. Ifft of Maryland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Frederick M. Ifft, who passed away on June 11, 1980; her son, Ronald M. Ifft, who passed away on Aug. 8, 1988, and her brother, Frederick Murphy.
IFFT — Mary Jane K. Murphy passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. Jane's family will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert A. Keplinger, officiating.
