Alice Mae Snow

Alice Mae Snow, 75, of Butler, formerly of Karns City and Petrolia, died unexpectedly Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Chicora, on Oct. 6, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Jacob Arthur Duncan and Charlotte Dunlap Duncan.

She married Earl Thomas Snow Sr. on Sept. 11, 1956, and he died June 9, 1997.

She worked at Moonlight Mushroom Mines in West Winfield, Boscov’s and Penreco in Karns City.

She was a member of the board of the Country Music Association on State Route 268 in Chicora. She enjoyed dancing, pets and her grandchildren.

Surviving are her three daughters, Glenda and Douglas Shakley of Karns City, Christina and Chalmer Anderson of Butler and Barbara and Martin McDonough of Riverview, Fla.; son, Thomas and Sherry Snow of Chicora; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Cricks; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Birchbichler.

SNOW — Alice Mae Snow died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. At her request, there will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience. A private burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.

Cremation services were entrusted to the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.
