Frederick Thompson

Frederick E. Thompson, 85, of Chicora passed away at 4:43 a.m. Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born March 12, 1927, in Butler, to the late James Edward Thompson and Anna Mary (Waugaman) Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Italy. He worked at Armco Steel as a roll grinder until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Thompson enjoyed working with his hands, mechanical things, camping and volunteering at Little Mahonning Bible Campgrounds. He attended the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife Martha J. (Groves) Thompson, who he married Sept. 6, 1949; one daughter, Jean Smith and her husband, Gale, of Chicora; three sons, F. Paul Thompson and his wife, Brenda (Plaisted), of Chicora, Benjamin Thompson and his wife, Donna (Snow), of Bruin and Jeffrey Thompson and his wife, Stephanie (Reynolds), of Crestview, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two great-grandchildren.

THOMPSON — Immediate and extended family of Frederick E. Thompson, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Jenks of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church officiating.Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
